A little bit late, but still I think that´s worth mentioning: Saturday, June 19, was the day E. And no, it has nothing to do with the Plan E of the Spanish government, nor economy, nor crisis. It is the day in which the Spanish natives and students celebrated the Day of Spanish (Día del Español), organized by the Cervantes Institute in 42 countries around the world with different cultural activities. And we shouldn´t be surprised to see the celebration of this language- there are already 450 million people speaking Spanish and there are 14 million students around the world. It is expected that in 2030 7.5% of the world’s population will be Spanish native speakers. Spanish is also one of the five most spoken languages in the EU institutions.

The most interesting part of the Day was the competition for a favourite word in Spanish. The most voted were the words such well known as Limón, República, Sueño, Infinito, but also other that may be unknown to Spanish students. Did you know for example that arrebañar is to clean the dish without leaving a crumb? Or that cachivache is a useless object or ridiculous person and that tiquismiquis means a very reserved person or too polite one? Personally, the words that make me laugh can be found in Ficcionario, ficticious diccionary, created to pick up invented words or those that are in use, but are not recognized by the RAE: Cagatrochas, Carnácana, Chanfle, Cocoloco, Flaquigordis, Majoni, Nostrapacus, Obesionado, Ratógenes and Serpienton. Do you know what may be their meaning?

Con un poco de retraso, pero es un día que merece la pena anotar: El sábado 19 de junio fue el Día E. Y no, no tiene nada que ver con el Plan E del gobierno español, nada de economía, nada de crisis. Es el día en el que los hispanohablantes y los alumnos del español celebraron el Día del Español, organizado por el Instituto Cervantes en 42 países del mundo con actividades culturales. Y no es de extrañar que se celebre el día de esta lengua: ya son 450 millones de personas que la hablan y hay 14 millones de alumnos de español en el mundo. Se prevé que en el año 2030 el 7,5% del mundo será hispanohablante. El español es también uno de los cinco idiomas más utilizados en las instituciones comunitarias.

Lo más interesante del Día fue el concurso para una palabra favorita en español. Las más votadas fueron las palabras tan conocidas como  Limón, República, Sueño, Infinito, pero también otras que para los alumnos pueden ser desconocidas. ¿Sabéis por ejemplo que arrebañar es limpiar el plato de comida sin dejar ni una miguita? ¿O que cachivache es una cosa inútil o una persona ridícula y que tiquismiquis se refiere a una persona con muchos reparos o que dice cosas demasiado corteses? A mí personalmente me hacen reír las palabras encontradas en el Ficcionario que se creó en la página para recoger palabras inventadas o las que están en uso, pero no están reconocidas por la RAE: Cagatrochas, Carnácana, Chanfle, Cocoloco, Flaquigordis, Majoni, Nostrapacus, Obesionado, Ratógenes y Serpienton. ¿Sabéis cuál puede ser su significado?

Moze troche pózno, ale lepiej pózno, niz wcale. Warto wspomniec o sobocie 19 czerwca, kiedy to odbyl sie Dzien E. I nie, nie ma on nic wspólnego z Planem E hiszpanskiego rzadu, ani z gospodarka, czy z kryzysem. Jest to dzien, w którym uzytkownicy jezyka hiszpanskiego i uczniowie obchodza Dzien Hiszpanskiego (Día del Español), organizowany przez Instytut Cervantesa w 42 krajach na calym swiecie w postaci róznych imprez kulturalnych. I nie powinnismy sie dziwic obchodom tego jezyka- juz 450 milionów ludzi mówi po hiszpansku i na swiecie jest 14 milionów uczniów hiszpanskiego. Oczekuje sie, ze w 2030 r. 7,5% populacji calego swiata bedzie uzywalo hiszpanskiego jako jezyka ojczystego. Hiszpanski jest jednym z pieciu najczesciej uzywanych jezyków w instytucjach UE.

Najciekawszym punktem obchodów byl konkurs na ulubione slowo w jezyku hiszpanskim. Z najczesciej typowanych slów, wiele jest dobrze wszystkim znanych- Limón, República, Sueño, Infinito, ale pojawialy sie takze inne, które uczniom hiszpanskiego moga przyspozyc problemów z tlumaczeniem. Czy wiesz na przyklad, ze arrebañar to czyszczenie talerza do momentu, gdy nie pozostaje na nim ani jeden okruch? Albo, ze cachivache to bezuzyteczny przedmiot lub osoba smieszna, a ze tiquismiquis oznacza osobe z duzymi oporami lub uzywajaca zbyt grzecznych slów. Mnie najbardziej rozsmieszyly slowa, które mozna znalezc w Ficcionario, slowniku slów fikcyjnych, stworzonym, by zebrac wymyslone slowa lub te, które sa w uzyciu, ale nie sa uznawane przez RAE: Cagatrochas, Carnácana, Chanfle, Cocoloco, Flaquigordis, Majoni, Nostrapacus, Obesionado, Ratógenes i Serpienton. Czy wiecie jakie moze byc ich znaczenie?
